Original Paintings for Your Home
Why an Original Painting
I think of a painting as something that keeps giving you more the longer you’re around it. The surface holds every layer that came before the one you see. Decisions made, painted over, invisible, but very much still there. A painting remembers its own history the way we carry our earliest years: present in who we are, even without direct access to the memory. That depth is hard to fake and impossible to flatten into a reproduction. It’s shy I still work the way I do — layering, scraping back, allowing the picture to come forth.
Finding the Right Painting
Choosing a painting isn’t really about matching dimensions or color to a room. It’s about how a piece feels when you’re in front of it — whether or not something in you responds. And you don’t need a second opinion for that. You’ll know, the way you know most things worth knowing: not be reasoning it out, but by recognizing it. Whether you’re considering one painting or several, I’m happy to help you think it though, but the choice itself is yours to make, and yours alone to feel.

Questions About Collecting Original Art
-
The right paintings is one you keep returning to — something you respond to. Consider the scale of the room, the quality of natural light, and how you want the space to feel. Large-scale original paintings can anchor a room while adding depth, atmosphere, and a lasting visual presence.

Buying directly from a local New York City artist offers access to the work, insight into the creative process, and a more personal collecting experience. It also provides the opportunity to ask questions, explore available paintings, and learn more about the artist’s studio practice before choosing a piece for your home.

Large-scale paintings often create the greatest impact in residential spaces. As a general guideline, artwork should relate to the proportions of the furniture and wall rather than filing every inch of available space. A thoughffully scaled painting can transform a room and become a work that is lived with for years.
